New Beef: Soulja Boy vs Charles Hamilton

Iight now a lot of you probably don't know who this Charles Hamilton dude is, he is an up and coming rapper straight out of Harlem (thats right Harlemworld Dipset etc.) now dude is mad nice thats all i gotta say for now, but the thing is that dude is also mad opinionated. He even called himself an "Old Bill O'Riley Lookin Nigga" yeah its that real. But dude gets co-signs from people like Maino, Dipset, and plenty more it seems like real New York dudes stand by him. But you'll get more background on him next month when he is officially declared the artist of the month...yeah thats right congrats Charles

But this beef isn't even a competition it started with Charles Hamilton saying he didnt like being compared to Soulja Boy. Now before you start thinking he is on the same type of music as Soulja Boy calm down, the comparison is as a result of their cartoon counterparts. You see Charles uses Sonic The Hedgehog as a symbol, his reasoning is actually pretty deep but again thats coming later. But he doesnt like that Soulja Boy is apparently ruining his opportunities in the game because he is making it seem like a gimmick.

But here is the video that started the madness. These dudes really get to work beefin through videos. They almost get written up for being "YouTube Gangstas" but Charles is mad real so shout out to Charles and Soulja Boy. Good luck to both of you, some will need it more than others.

Drake ft Trey Songz- Replacement Girl

Okay now this is Drake's first video ft Trey Songz and it's called "Replacement Girl."  The song is pretty dope actually and the video is fly. Its kinda got an international man of mystery feel to it you know? Oh and the girls are on point! Standard video girl status but still there's some dimes. I just love how he can have all these girls and then go on wax and talk about it in his song "Video Girl" (feel free to check it out on "Room For Improvement" his first mixtape which is on the site too. Just so you know the video is about 2 years old so sorry you won't be seeing it on BET, but who knows with Lil Wayne backing him we just might see Drizzy on the small screen. But enough of the delay here is "Replacement Girl"

Cory Gunz- Heartless (Re-Versed)

Okay now this is not a remix no, not when its ya man Cory Gunz, no he prefers to do something new and you gotta respect that. See this isn't Heartless Remix no no no, its Heartless Re-Versed! haha but anyway this is dope I'm talking straight crazy! Now this goes perfect with my Kanye blogging session but this is Cory Gunz shutting it down. He changed the theme a little calling himself "heartless," I guess the dudes never been in a bad relationship haha. But there are afew more remixes out there including Rick Ross's which actually is pretty good. Oh and look at for one recorded and made by a member of the Live From The 269 team. Thats right folks ya boy CJ is getting on his B-I! Now don't let this scare you away thinking this website is just a chance to plug me and my crew, no we're genuinly about the arts. But trust me I  put a lot of time and effort into this verse to really live up to my icon's standards (wadup Ye)

But back to the point here is Cory Gunz's "Heartless (Re-Versed)"

Oh and sorry for the delay on the post its been out about a week ort two. But like I said before life got hectic and I didnt want to put it up until I could give you the download. I know how pissed off I was when I spent like a week or two trying to find the download and it was nowhere to be found. But now i have it and shout out to buckmarleyxxx.com for the download link, I almost gave up. But enjoy

Cory Gunz- Heartless (Re-Versed)

Kanye Spazzes On SNL!

Okay so this one is following my Kanye essay haha some proof that his live show is still on point. He goes bazerk on this video ya feel me?!?! If not then you will when you see these videos I'm serious he kills it! The effect he puts on his voice is bananas and he just shuts it down end of discussion!

Kanye Has It On Lock (Oh And Don't Get Scared Away By The Length)

Iight first off this is a sidebar, but my apologies for the delay. Life is mad wild, its fun but it gets busy you know, but no worries from now on I'm def gonna make it a priority to make sure the blog is on point but any way I digress back to my main point of this post.

Okay now here's the thing that's got me buggin a lot of people have been trying to play my man Kanye because of his new album. Here's my whole view on the thing: music is supposed to be real, we need it to live and as a true artist you have to be able to express your life and how your feeling and thats one thing I've always admired in Kanye. No matter what happens he always sticks to him, no matter how new innovative or risky he does him. Stronger for example crazy new and innovative and it ended up being one of his biggest successes to date. Graduation was lyrically solid and productionally genius, and for all you saying it was production minded only step your fan game up too fam b/c the lyrics were on point "I'm like a fly Malcolm X, I buy any jeans neccessary." Plus even though they both held it down he flexed Lil Wayne on "Barry Bonds." But back to the point Late Registration was solid too had new songs and personal insight in songs like "Roses,"  it's just another example of Kanye doing Kanye and showing you who he is. Also he definately got closer to his fans and the fans showed him much love for it. College drop out he spazzed on it the entire album was crazy lyrics, production, and that soulful CHI-Town vibe. Any way you look at it Kanye has always been a stabple in music and he's always been the future.

So please somebody anybody explain to me "WHY WOULD ANYBODY DOUBT HIM AND SAY HE'S FALLING OFF NOW" for real come on. This is another stage in the evolution of music. I'm not gonna lie at first i thought T-Pain was garbage, I thought he couldnt sing and it was all a gimmick. But as time went on I saw the man could make a hit and he didnt need Auto Tunes it was just an added effect to add to the whole experience. And with that I had to respect the people who used it after him and put the time in to learn it, instead of picking it up half ass because they thouhgt it would help them sell A Millie. So Lil Wayne big ups, same to you Chris Brown and Kanye, way to put the time and effort in to perfect your craft. Ron Brown's "Pop Champaign" was dope don't get me wrong, but it could have been crazy live if he just took the time to perfect Auto Tunes.

But back to Kanye, the quality definately didnt go down with this new album, and it is definately not a gimmick it is just a new platue for him to reach. Another opportunity to attract haters in his fake fans and fellow artist, and then to dismiss them on wax. I mean you heard go hard he did that in the same time span as his album! So there's no way he lost it! He's just flexing another part of his artistry as a whole.

So I know conceptual albums aren't for everybody but listen to his album, don't skim through really listen then give me some feedback. I promise you if you listen to the concepts, the voice and the lyrics then you'll get it.

Young Jeezy ft. Pharrell- Rumor Has It

For all you Jeezy fans, he's back on his charismatic grind. And all you Skateboard P fans its another melodic masterpiece. With Pharrell on the hook and beat and Jeezy rapping this track is gonna get definate radio play. Now I'm just waiting for a remix with Pharrell rapping and its a lock. Oh by the way when you listen to this doesnt it remind you of Pharrell ft Snoop Dogg- That Girl just a little? If you don't know what song I'm talking about look it up and give feedback.

Akon ft. Lil Wayne- I'm So Paid

This is the original I dont care what you've seen in the video this is the original, Jeezy came later. Not knocking Jeezy because he definately did his thing and added a touch to the song that only Jeezy could but check it out then check out the video and give feedback like always.

Akon ft. Lil Wayne- I'm So Paid

The Clipse - Road to Till The Casket Drops

Tracklist:

1. Intro
2. The Haters Wish
3. Big Dreams
4. Lauren London Interlude
5. So Fly (Now We’ve Had Her)
6. Addiction
7. Pop Champagne ft Ab-Liva (of Re-Up Gang)
8. Numb It Down
9. S.L.U. ft Ab-Liva (of Re-Up Gang)
10. Swing Ya Rag
11. Lil Willie Interlude
12. Fed Taking Pictures

This is the newest offering from the legendary duo and the most lyrical duo of all time The Clipse. This mixtape is hosted by a magazine instead of by a DJ like normal mixtapes. Complex Magazine hosted this mixtape as promo for The Clipse's new clothing line "Play Clothes" which is actually pretty fly (pics coming soon). This is also preview for the Clipse's album "Till The Casket Drops" droping sometime in 09. The lyrics are there of course along with witty drug commentary and metaphore's. "The Kings of The Coke Flow" go all out this tape so check it out and give feedback.

The Clipse - Road to Till The Casket Drops

Cassidy- Misunderstood

For all you fans of Lil Wayne's "Misunderstood" off the Carter III your gonna love this. Cassidy puts it down is all I can say. The punchline king showed that nobody is a threat to his crown. He killed it and put it in the grave. You would think it was his verse and forget about Wayne's version. No offense to Weezy I'm just tripping off of this song so check it out and give me some feedback.

Cassidy- Misunderstood

The Game & Lil Wayne- Red Magic

This is monumental to me The Game & Wayne have shut it down releasing songs and tapes together and their both lyrically solid so thats a given but this collabo is depper. They straight sampled a line from Jay-Z in "Roc Boys" for the hook and they had Wayne spit it with Auto Tunes. And they had The Game's Auto Tunes debut (don't worry he's not singing he's rapping and he actually has a good voice for it. So if your not down with the Auto Tune madness you won't like this, but if you do you'll love it. Check it out download and give your feed back.

The Game & Lil Wayne- Red Magic

Ludacris ft. Lil Wayne- Last Of A Dying Breed

Ludacris & Lil Wayne........all I can say is its about time. Especially with a Rakim sample.......classic, only way to make this better would be to get Jay-Z on it along with Nas, T.I., Kanye actually rapping and The Game and it would be the best record ever. Now if we're talking nationally recognized people and we really want to throw them off I'd put Ross, Lupe, Pharrell, The Clipse, and Rakim and KRS-One with a special appearance and you have the biggest collabo since "Swagga Like Us" along with the greatest collabo record EVER!!!!!!!! But that's just a hip-hop fan's dream, anyway. A lot of you may have already heard or downloaded or heard this but this is a special request from my boy A-Manning so here you go. A lot of you probably heard these 2 perform this with Rakim live on the hook (by the way if you havent heard of Rakim 1 shame on you and 2 look him up and be impressed he is the lyrical originator)

Wale-Nike Boots Music Video

I've been hoping and waiting for this video for a long time. This video is all I expected and more, its great stuff. You can feel and see the come up out of DC. If anybody ever put on it wasnt Jeezy it was Wale. Check it out.

Cory Gunz & Freeway- Invasion Radio Freestyle Session

This is Cory Gunz & Freeway doing a dope freestyle session on Green Lantern's Invasion Radio. Now this isnt the first time your boy Cory Gunna has shut down Invasion Radio, that jam is coming later and if that doesnt earn some respect I dont know what will. Cory Gunz showed he's in a lane of his own holding it down w/ a freestyle legend. So check it out and give some feedback.

Cory ft Ryan Leslie-Get It Right Tonight

This song is crazy check it out Cory made a club hit like 50 but he still kept the lyrics there which is something I can definately respect. Many of you may remember him from Lil Waynes "A Millie" he's dope trust me and the lyrics are on point so enjoy

Before this tape I'd only heard of Jae Millz off his own merit and of course Drizzy Drake Rogers, and also Tyga, the rest were just role players but what can I say it made a 03 Lakers of a tape. Drake- Room For Improvement (Special Edition)

This is Drake's "Room For Improvement" Mixtape. Its his first on record lyrical offering and it came out in 06. Now trust me even though it came out in 06 it doesnt show, if 06 was sprinkled in afew bars throughout the tape I wouldnt even know. The tape is quality with the 1st version of "City is Mine" which is later mastered on "Room For Improvement," it also has "AM to PM" which is crazy along with "S.T.R.E.S.S." and one of my favorites "Kick Push (Remix)" which is crazy like for real if you take Lupe's original verses with Drakes verse and Pharrells verse on his remix you would have the perfect track. But check it out and give me your feedback.

Drake- Room For Improvement (Special Edition)

I Put On For Rap City

Does anybody else miss Rap City, no disrespect intended to Rap City DJ Q45 is live and he definately does his thing but I mean the old school in the basement. I'm talking Tigga just hopping in and getting it in with the actual rappers. I miss it the old dudes we dont see anymore like Canibus, Method Man & Redman you know. I miss G-Unit when Game & Buck were on and most of us still listened to 50. Or the Roc when Jay and Dame were speaking. Dipset when Cam was down with Juelz & Jim Jones. An era ended when Tigga got evicted but now I'm gonna give you a flashback

Best of The Booth

Drake ft Lykke Li- A Little Bit (Remix)

Okay this is officially my new iPod repeat song I'm talking 24/7 spins. Another singing song w/ a hard verse at the end "the pressures on, both hearts beat like a metronome, both in sync (nsync) like a justin song, feels so right but its just so wrong" I'll stop there you'll have to listen to hear the rest ya dig!!!

Drake ft Lykke Li- A Little Bit (Remix)

Drake- Friends With Money

"I got friends with money and i got money too, and we put it together and let you pick what to do" thats the 1st part of the chorus. Its not as cliche as my back pack viewers may think its actually good. Peter Gunz on the beat with an old school 80s sample. The flow is 88 like no other and it just blends so check it out and feed back like janet!

Drake- Friends With Money

Drake- Still Fly

Does anybody else remember "Still Fly" by the Big Tymers? It was dope right? I'm talking every system blasting it for like a year straight and its still getting some play! Well Drake remade it, and i mean completely redid it. Same melody higher key, new drums, new flow. Its wild so check it out

Drake- Still Fly

Drake- Get Over It

This is "Get Over It" by Drake, its a dope song. The bars are there wordplay of course is a must and its relatable. When you hear it you'll get it, trust me any man can feel this even if there not a star. Check it out and give us your feedback as always.

Drake- Get Over It

Drake ft. Trey Songz-Pop Rose

For all the fans of Ron Brownz's "Pop Champaign" (which ever version you heard) this is Drake & Trey Songz's version "Pop Rose". Its pretty dope with potent lines from both artists, so check it out and give some feedback.

Drake ft. Trey Songz-Pop Rose

Drake- Sooner Than Later

Now a lot of you may not know this but ya boy Drake is actually a pretty talented singer. He has done choruses over afew Lil Wayne tracks and is just as talented w/ singing as he is w/ his raps. This is one good example where his vocal skills are put on display. Actually he doesnt even rap until the last verse of the song. Sp as always check it out and give your feedback.

Drake- Sooner Than Later

Drake- Swagga Like Us Freestyle

For all you fans of the original this is Drakes Freestyle over the Swagga Like Us Beat. Its pretty good he has afew bars on there that would make you pause the song for a second and just wait to let it sink in so check it out and give your feedback

Drake- Swagga Like Us Freestyle

Drake- Money To Blow

I don't know how many of you watched the 2008 VMA's but iff not look Lil Wayne's Performance up on youtube especially Misunderstood, when you do you'll see he performed Drakes verse off this song then gave him a shoutout. The song is short but its legit so check it out.

Think Thoughts you might have an Idea

Whens the last time you have ever heard someone rap and you thought, "wow, that was awesome. I never thought of it like that." Or after the song is done you’re almost evaluating your own life. Or in a song a story itself is told  and you  as a person become inspired in a time of doubt and desperation. Well among many other goals this  is something we want you to think about. Don't always get caught in the beat, but try to get caught in the words. Life is what you hear, see, and listen too. So make sure you listen to the right things. We post new music that might not always be popular at first, but it will later when everyone catches on. So stay tuned

Live From The 269's 1st Official Artist Of The Month Is.............Drake

Here at Live From The 269 we like to spotlight up and coming artist as a nod of recognition. Our first is Drake aka Drizzy Drake Rogers. Many of you may recognize Drake from his role as Jimmy Brookes in Degrassi: The Next Generation (yeah he's wheelchair Jimmy). But his wheelchaired charachter didn't hold him back from stepping into the rap game and hitting the ground running calling out saysayers on wax saying "Damn whose Drake where's wheelchair Jimmy at? Now I'm here on my Chris Brown bitch gimme that." He reps Toronto, Canada and has his own crew ATF, he also affiliates with Lil Wayne's Young Moeny team doing countless collabo's with Wayne and his affilliates. Drizzy is no joke despite being deemed "The New Fresh Prince" because of his flourishing acting career. He has said despite Wayne's tokened song freestyling on songs Drake says he like to take time to write lyrics so each bar is impactful, saying because he isn't a "gangster rapper" he has more pressure to make each song monumental. So throughout December we're gonna hit you with as much Drake as you can handle, starting with his first mixtape, Room For Improvement hosted by DJ Smallz. It came out in 06 but trust me its legit.

Welcome To The 269

Hello ladies and gentlemen this is CJ and I'd like to welcome you to the 269. Now what I'd like to do is give you a brief background on me. I'm originally from Chicago/ The Chicago Area so I'm definately gonna be double 7 tre to the 269 all day. Music is my life, period; I'm not bias music is music Rap/Hip-Hop, R&B, Rock, Alternative, Indie, whatever. One reason I am so interested is because I'm an artist myself, so I have a high level of respect and appreciation for artists and the work they put in. I like art in every facet imaginable, and I believe that art can be found in everything there is; its just a matter of noticing. I'm not concieted but I'd like to believe that the effort I put into my appearance is noticed. Again I'm not concieted, but my body is a temple so why would I choose a $20 paint job over the Sistine Chapel. But what I'm trying to say is T-Shirts are art (sorry mom). But I'm going to show you new rappers old rappers whatever; I'll show you art in all facets so maybe then you'll appreciate it too. Anyway check out the blog and respond to let me know what you think.
